Widely available through comic shops and importers, Anime Insider is an excellent magazine.

Packed with everything you need to know about the US anime and manga market, including reviews, features, news and interviews, Anime Insider is one of the best sources of information available.  Although packed with info, the magazine also has a sense of humour which is missing from other similar publications.  Written more like a fanzine than a professional magazine, Anime Insider is easy to read, informative and enjoyable.  With unusual regular features, such as 'animé death of the month' and fan fiction Vs matches between characters (one was Tetsuo Shima from Akira Vs. Hamtaro...), reviews which cover everything from animé & manga through to J-Pop, computer games and merchandise, Anime Insider is well worth buying.

You may think that being the only UK anime magazine could lead to laziness - you have no rivals, so why work hard?   Thankfully the creators of Neo don't think like that.

Focusing solely on the UK market, Neo may diversify its content with articles and reviews of games, live action Asian film and Japanese music, but it's the coverage of anime and manga that makes it essential.  Featuring contributions from anime pundit Jonathan Clements, the inside scoop on the latest anime and manga releases and some in depth but fun articles, Neo succeeds in not only having plenty for established fans but doesn't alienate or exclude those new to anime.  It is this balance that makes Neo a great magazine, and it continues to get better.  Absolutely essential to all UK anime and manga fans.

A straight English translation of one of the best Japanese Animé and Manga magazines is always going to be good.

And good NewType USA is.  Although expensive you really get a lot for your money, as each magazine not only features all the latest reviews features and information from Japan, but also a poster, a centrefold poster, a manga insert (currently Chrono Crusade), postcards, an 'art of' feature and a promo DVD featuring entire episodes of new anime series.  The best magazine available for information on the very latest series in Japan, NewType USA is extremely informative and will often feature interviews with big name creators and studios, as well as sections on music and model making.   Probably the best animé and manga magazine available for information and extras, no true fan should miss this.
