STUCK IN THE MIDDLE WITH YUGO THE NEGOTIATOR!

CAUGHT BETWEEN THE PAKISTANI ARMY & REBELS ON 15th JANUARY 2007

LONDON, UK, 24th November 2006

ADV Films is proud to continue releasing in the U.K. a new kind of anime in Yugo The Negotiator: Pakistan 02 - Honor on 15th January 2007!  No giant robots, no magical powers, no high school romance – this is anime about real people in the real world facing real danger, anime’s answer to 24, Sleeper Cell and Spooks.

Yugo Beppu is not a dashing spy or unstoppable soldier, but a globe-trotting negotiator whose mastery of multiple languages, psychology, and iron will set him apart from all others in his trade.  In a world beset by terrorism, kidnappings, crooked governments and ambitious military, Yugo looks to save lives through any and all means at his disposal – but in order to do so, he must first understand the mindset of his opponents.

Based upon the original manga by Shinji Makari and Shu Akana, now running for a decade, Yugo the Negotiator strives for a degree of realism rare in anime.  With classy animation on the Pakistan arc from G&G Direction (IGPX, GitS SAC: Solid State Society, Blood+), it opens up a fresh new genre by featuring a highly realistic storyline and setting.  Selected to screen at the Curzon Mayfair, London, as part of the prestigious Tiger Eye Firecracker Showcase 2006.

The Story:

When negotiations erupt into all-out war, one man’s resolution becomes a matter of life and death!  Yugo is captured by the anti-government dacoits as a prisoner rather than received as an emissary.  Sentenced to roast in the sun, he must survive gruesome torture to prove his worth as a hero to the fearsome dacoit leader, Yusuf Ali Mesa.  To make matters worse, bloodthirsty Lieutenant Colonel Shadle from the Pakistani Army is hunting Yugo down at every turn to stop the negotiations and wipe out the dacoits.  In a war of words, mind, and military might, Yugo must show his adversaries what a true hero is made of.

Yugo The Negotiator: Pakistan 02 - Honor (RRP £19.99) is a DVD-only release of episodes 4 to 6, presented in both English 5.1 and Japanese 2.0 audio with English subtitles.  Extras include: interviews with series director Seiji Kishi, Japanese voice actor Takashi Hagino (Yugo), Takehiko Matsumoto (Character Designs) and Kazuharu Sato (Series Planning), and Japanese voice actor Takashi Hagino (Yugo); “Personnel Dossiers” covering the major characters; “The Japanese Depiction of Pakistan: Comments on Yugo” Part 2 by Cultural Advisor Nawaz Charania & ADR Director Scott McClennen; music video; plus clean opening & closing animation, and ADV previews.
