Amecon Seeks Staff

AmeCon has always seemed like a mainstay of the UK anime calendar, but the most last month's convention at Keele University was the last one for many of the original committee.  Several staff members have decided to call it a day, leaving several vacancies and prompting the following post on the AmeCon website:

"This year AmeCon bid a fond farewell to a number of key committee members who have departed from their roles for various reasons, we would like to thank them for all that they have done for AmeCon and wish them all the best in their future endeavours.

However the committee now have a number of vacant roles that need to be filled. We are looking for energetic, reliable and proactive people to join our ranks and help us bring you the AmeCon you know and love.

If you have a useful skill or experience in a key aspect of event organisation (or a service we require, for example web development) and feel you would be an asset to the committee, then please get in touch with our Chairman David Mack (chairman@amecon.org)"

Kazé License Un-Go

Kazé have confirmed that the sci-fi detective series Un-Go will be released in the UK in early 2013.  The license was originally confirmed at last October's MCM Expo but this is the first time any concrete release plans have been revealed for the series, which follows 'the last great detective' Shinjuro Yuki as he uses intuition and reasoning to solve crimes in a future world where technology has made such things largely obsolete.  The series is 11 episodes long and Kazé have yet to confirm whether it will receive a Blu-Ray release or just DVD.

Amecon License Announcements

The UK's largest dedicated anime convention is currently underway, and Kazé have announced a handful of exciting new licenses at their panel!  First up is the exciting news that Kazé have acquired both series of the fan favourite mecha series Code Geass, and will release them both on DVD and Blu-Ray.  Both series were previously released by Bandai's UK subsidiary Beez, but fell into limbo when Beez shut its doors earlier this year.  Also announced is Mawaru Penguindrum, an intriguing drama series about a girl resurrected by a spirit when she dies of an illness.  It also features magical penguins.  All three will probably be released in 2013.
