Cosplay interviews! A weekly feature on Animetion where we talk to cosplayers on what motivates them, plus a cool gallery showcasing their cosplays.  Here we talk to UK cosplayer:

Name: Wildeth

Q: When did you start cosplaying and how long for?

I started cosplaying about a year ago at the MCM London Expo.  I decided about a month before the expo that I wanted to make a costume after reading the Expo forums, so threw together a Kyo Sohma cosplay (from Fruits Basket - ed.).  It was such a great experience, I decided to continue making costumes and they improved time after time.

Q: What attracts you cosplay?

I'm seen as the nerdy, artsy one among my friends as I love all things anime and creative so when I found out about cosplay, I was instantly attracted to it.  It's just so much fun, and it has helped my confidence.  The fact that it is so easy to make friends and do something you love at the same time makes it very attractive to me.  I really do love it.

Q:  What has been your favourite cosplay?

It has to be Kagami (from Lucky Star - ed.).  It was the first costume I put a lot of effort into and the one that I enjoyed wearing the most.  Kagami is one of my favourite anime characters and as cheesy as it sounds, it was so much fun 'being' her for the day.  This is why I love cosplay. xD

Q: Most memorable moment whilst cosplaying?

I'm so corny so I have to say everytime I get recognised or asked for a picture.  I'm extremely self conscious and shy out of cosplay, so the fact that people like my costume so much they want a photo makes me chuffed beyond imagination.

Q:  Have you had any cosplays go wrong/encountered problems whilst making cosplays?

Making the tail for Meowth (from Pokémon - ed.) was hell.  I couldn't figure out how to get it to curl, then I had problems with getting it to stay up... seriously, it was horrible.  But a nice cosplayer on deviantART helped me so all was good. ^_^

Q:  Have you ever regretted cosplaying?

Never for a minute.  Sure, I've had my frustrations about lack of money/hard costumes/etc but I've never wanted to quit!

Q:  Have you ever done group cosplay? If so how did you find that experience?

I haven't got to that stage yet but I'm planning a Pokémon and Kuroshitsuji group for 2010.

Q:  What cosplays are you planning?

I'm in the process of planning a few cosplays for 2010, which include Finnian from Kuroshitsuji, Sailor Jupiter from Sailor Moon and Momiji from Fruits Basket.

Q:  Do you have a dream cosplay?

I'd love to be able to cosplay as Neo Queen Serenity from Sailor Moon.  Her dress is so beautiful and it'd be amazing to wear and make it.  Maybe in the future... ^_^

Q:  Do you have one piece of advice that you would give to cosplay virgins?

Don't sweat it!  Have fun, put as much effort as you can into your costume and go for the wow factor.  Cosplay is a great way to make friends as I've found out, so be sociable.  And remember: originality is the key when it comes to choosing cosplay options!

Q:  Do you have an account with the website Cosplay Island/other social networking sites?

You can find me there, and on Cosplay.com, as Wildeth.
