This Review is part of an Animetion UK experiment, wherein we will watch some older anime titles whilst completely blasted on a variety of alcoholic beverages.  The results may be understandably incoherent...

Current Alcohol Level:  9 Cans of Carlsberg (440ml) & 1 'Ronin' Cocktail (Saké, Vodka & Lemon Juice), Jack Daniels & ginger, 2 Sex on the Beach Cocktails, Double Jack Daniels & Coke

PANTS!!!!

That's what this film is about, PANTS!!!!  Lots of them!!!!  This is what anime should be like, it has everything, supervillains, fan service, action, laughs and sheer Japanese perviness, in other words exactly what you want to see when you've been drinking heavily!

The plot revolves around Ganbachi, an escaped genetically engineered half man half cockroach who escapes the lab he was created in and becomes a teacher in a school full of delinquents.  No really.  He then tries to bring them under his thrall by humiliating their leader, the pretty and seemingly demure Hinako, by getting the 'Pinball Gang' to pelvic thrust at her whilst wearing blue 'velvet pussy' pants.  Again, no, really.

As you can guess it's not going to win any awards for thought provoking philosophy, but it when you have drunk as much as I have now there is very little (apart from a few episodes of Dragonball Z) that is better.  From pointless but hilarious over the top set pieces (a fight with Ganbachi ending with him standing on the top of a mountain of pants for example) to random African tribesmen appearing in the background and a genius parody of Ultraman, Ultimate Teacher is the kind of anime you remember fondly from the halcyon days of rubbish English dubs and endless, frequently crap, Manga releases.  This is one of the gems that I really wish would come to DVD!  It has a spider man in it that fires webs out of his arse!!

Ultimate Teacher is hilarious, perfect drunken viewing, it's great but rubbish at the same time.  It's the kind of thing that got you into anime in the first place - BRILLIANT!!!!

Best Bit:  The hilarious 'humiliation' of Hinako

Worst bit:  The obviously changed dialogue.
