If you think a film based on a original idea by someone who is not Rumiko Takahashi is as wise as bathing a baby in a cursed spring then DO NOT WORRY!  Because this film is fantastic!

Opening with just about every character ever chasing Ranma for about ten minutes (all caused by Happosai), the plot then kicks in with the arrival of an elephant and Lychee, who is searching for her Prince who is bound to marry her according to the secret scroll that she carries.  The Prince – Kirin, leader of the Seven Lucky Gods martial artists - arrives just as Akane happens to holding the scroll and so makes off with her in his flying boat.  Thus ensues an epic adventure by Ranma and co to rescue Akane!  This of course involves a lot of fighting, lechery and falling in water a lot.

Animation in this film is similar to that of the first series, so apart from a little clouded it’s top-notch.  Also, things appear when characters are hit in a split second so you’ll be finally using that DVD slow-motion for something else.

Japanese and English voice talent are the same talent are the same as the series, so as always I recommend watching in Japanese to avoid the ‘we’ll just stick words in that look right’ Word-fit system.

So, overall a great film that manages to keep up the humour and madness throughout the film, unlike some of the TV episodes.  Well worth your money.
