Based on the original story Booby Trap from the manga of Black Magic, this film is a typical action anime that has a simple and predictable plot.

The basic storyline is that the army are after the M-66 robots which were weapons they were developing until they were programmed incorrectly and are now going on a killing spree in search of their creator’s granddaughter Ferris.  A journalist by the name of Sybel – who is investigating the army – gets mixed up in this and winds up protecting Ferris.

Sounds good eh? Well no not really. Although some the action is fast-paced and fun in places, what lets down M-66 more then anything is the rubbish plot and script as you’ve seen it all before. Had the plot been more complex and the film a little longer it may have had a chance to actually develop the characters and come up with a good story rather then the standard stalking robot scenario.

Other bad points that must be mentioned are the awful soundtrack which sounds much like all bad American slasher films and the few attempts at comedy are terrible and will make you grimace rather then laugh.

So all in all not good at all as you probably guessed. A few good action scenes make this just about watchable, but there is much better action anime out there.
