Ah, the classic US crime show. Sexy people with guns, respected leaders that turn out to be heads of international drug cartels and henchman that could fire entire clips at the crowd of a World Cup final and still not manage to hit anybody. Add into that some groovy sax music, some car chases and a evil assassin who is always from Eastern Europe and you have a hit show. Or in this case a hit anime. |

It's not all about the cars though as the
characters make for great viewing throughout. The
straight-talking sexy lead Rally providing most of the action in the
form of 'only one bullet left' scenes which often involve a good
dose of speed-lines and panty shots. Her sidekick is not
unlike the character Murdock from The A-Team has she is
slightly insane and enjoys blowing things up a bit too much
with her jacket of grenades. Add into the mix their
arch-nemesis in the form of Russian stereotyped assassin Radinov,
who as a typical cold asexual air as well as a leather coat and
sunglasses. See the picture on the left - very funny. |
Overall there are little bad things to say about
Gunsmith Cats. It is a fun stylish show that is
gleefully free of the angsty gun-totting teens that plague most
anime nowadays, instead it concentrates on action and does not
pretend to be anything more then a fun ride - cybernetic killers,
mechs, a futuristic setting or any other gimmicks here. Some
may want to avoid Gunsmith Cats because of the lack of
features unique to anime and they got into anime to avoid the
American shows on which it is based, but by taking that view you
would be missing out on one hell of a show.
